Texas A M University (Texas A&M University) is an institution of public research that is located in Texas in the United States. It is the only university in Texas that has been designated as a land, sea, and space grant institution.

It was also inducted as a member of the Association of American Universities in 2001. Since the year 1948, it has been serving as the founding member of the Texas A&M University System, which is among the nation’s 10 largest endowments. Texas A&M University was recognized as one among the top 20 institutions of research by the National Science Foundation in 2009. Even The Wall Street Journal has ranked it second nationally in terms of helping students get a job in key career professions.

Spread over an area of 5,200 acres, the main campus of Texas A&M University is considered to be one among the largest in the United States. Its main campus situated in College Station which is home to more than 64,000 plus students. The university offers more than 133 undergraduate degree programs, 92 doctoral degree programs, 175 master’s degree programs, and 5 first-professional degrees as options for study to the students.

Texas A&M University is also home to 1100 plus student organizations that have been recognized officially. It boasts of a distinguished faculty comprised of winners of Wolf Price, National Medal of Science, Noble Prize, 3500 plus other teachers and researchers. Almost 90 percent of the faculty hold doctoral degrees or terminal degrees in their field and 330 hold endowed professorships or chairs.

Twenty-two faculty are members of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, or Institute of Medicine. With an enlistment of 68,625 students in the 2017 Fall semester, Texas A&M University became the 2nd largest public American university. In enrollment of National Merit Scholars, the university has been consistently ranked among the top 10 public universities each year.

With the support of over 5,00,200 alumni, Texas A&M University has one of the largest American networks of alumni groups. There are several attendees of the university who have attained local, national, and even international prominence. Texas A&M University is a public institution that was founded in 1876. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 56,723 (fall 2021), its setting is city, and the campus size is 5,200 acres. Ready to be an Aggie? All students assume the nickname at Texas A&M, an academic and athletic powerhouse in central Texas. Once an all men’s school called the Agricultural and Mechanical College – now shortened to A&M – the university today is coed and offers a wide variety of majors and activities. Students can choose from more than 1,000 clubs and organizations, including nearly 60 fraternities and sororities.

About 10% of students go Greek. More students, about 25%, play in Texas A&M intramural sports leagues, one of the largest programs in the country. The school’s varsity sports compete in the NCAA Division I Southeastern Conference, cheered on by mascot Reveille IX, a collie. Miss Rev, as the collie is known, is also the highest-ranking member in the school’s Cadet Corps, the largest ROTC program in the nation (not including programs at service academies).

First-year students interested in community service can get involved right away through the Freshmen in Service and Hosting program (FISH). All students can give back during The Big Event, the largest single-day, student-run volunteer effort in the country in which more than 22,000 Aggies work to improve the nearby cities of College Station and Bryan. For many students, these communities are also home; freshmen are not required to live on campus and many choose to live in College Station or Bryan.

The university has highly ranked graduate offerings through its Dwight Look College of Engineering, Mays Business School and College of Education and Human Development. The school, which is known as a research institution, offers unique programs including the only veterinary medicine school in Texas.

The school also has a campus in Qatar, where about 500 students enroll. Notable alumni of Texas A&M include dozens of politicians such as U.S. Reps. Joe Barton and Louie Gohmert, and a handful of beauty pageant winners, including Miss USA, Kandace Krueger, and Miss Louisiana USA, Melissa McConnell.

How U.S. News Calculated the 2022-2023 Best Global Universities Rankings:

The ninth annual U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities rankings were produced to provide insight into how universities compare globally. Since an increasing number of students plan to enroll in universities outside of their own country, the Best Global Universities rankings – which focus specifically on schools’ academic research and reputation overall and not on their separate undergraduate or graduate programs – can help those applicants accurately compare institutions around the world.

The 2022-2023 Best Global Universities rankings also provide insight into how U.S. universities – which U.S. News has been ranking separately for nearly 40 years – stand globally. All universities can benchmark themselves against schools in their own country and region, become more visible on the world stage, and find top schools in other countries to consider collaborating with.

The overall Best Global Universities ranking encompasses 2,000 top institutions, up from 1,750 last year, spread across 95 countries, up from 90 last year. The first step in producing these rankings, which are powered by Clarivate,™ involved creating a pool of 2,011 universities that was used to rank the top 2,000 schools.

To create the pool of 2,011, U.S. News first included the top 250 universities in the results of Clarivate’s global reputation survey, described further below. Next, U.S. News added any other institutions that met the minimum threshold of at least 1,250 papers published from 2016 to 2020. This paper threshold is unchanged from last year. Those two criteria created the final 2022-2023 ranking pool of 2,011 institutions from which the top-scoring 2,000 universities are ranked by U.S. News in the overall ranking.

As a result of these criteria, many stand-alone graduate schools, including Rockefeller University in New York and the University of California—San Francisco, were eligible to be ranked and were included in the ranking universe.

The second step was to calculate the rankings using the 13 indicators and weights that U.S. News chose to measure global research performance. Each of the school’s profile pages on usnews.com lists the overall global score as well as numerical ranks for the 13 indicators, allowing students to compare each school’s standing in each indicator.

The U.S. News Best Global Universities rankings by country show the top institutions in 47 countries, all of which have five or more schools in the overall ranking. Universities are ranked in their country based on their position in the overall Best Global Universities ranking.

For example, the Canadian institution that fares the best in the worldwide rankings is the University of Toronto, at No. 18. This overall position also makes the school No. 1 in the Best Global Universities in Canada ranking. The second highest-ranked university in Canada in the overall ranking is the University of British Columbia, at No. 35, making it No. 2 in Canada, and next is McGill University, which is No. 54 overall and No. 3 in Canada.
